COVID-19 Fear Scale in the context of a second wave ofthe pandemic in healthcare workers at Regional Instituteof Neoplastic Diseases IREN-Concepción 2021

Introduction: Due to the high communicability of COVID-19, the increase in confirmed cases and deaths from this virus, negative thoughts and emotions have increased, causing fear of this disease. Objectives: To determine the levels of fear of COVID-19 in the context of a second wave of the pandemic in care workers at the Regional Institute of Neoplastic Diseases
of the Center 2021. Methods: Quantitative, observational, prospective, cross-sectional study, virtually applied a questionnaire to measure the level of fear in the different health professional groups based on a fear scale (COVID-19) Spanish version validated in Lima, Peru, which has a Cronbach's Alpha 0.89, with simple stratified random probabilistic sampling of care workers
from the Regional Institute of Neoplastic Diseases of the Centro-Concepción from February to May 2021. Results: The sample consisted of 201 health professionals who voluntarily agreed to be part of the study, the largest age group is in the range of 31-35 years with 34,32%, The female gender predominates with 72,64%, and the occupational group with the largest
number of participants was the care technician with 44,27%. The occupational group that had the highest levels of fear was that of pharmaceutical chemists, and the group that had the lowest levels of fear of the coronavirus was that of physicians. Conclusion: The occupational group with the highest level of fear of the coronavirus as measured through the COVID-19 Fear
Scale is the group of pharmaceutical chemists.
