Family support and lifestyles of the elderly at theEdgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital, Lima -2024

The objective of the study was to determine the relationship between family support and
lifestyles of older adults who attend a service at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins National Hospital, Lima - 2024. This is a quantitative, applied study, non-experimental design, cross-sectional correlational. The study population consisted of 195 patients, and the sample consisted of 79 patients by non-probability sampling. The survey technique was used, two instruments were
used to evaluate family support and lifestyles, which were validated by expert judgment. The reliability of family support determined by Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0,859 and lifestyles was 0,842, which means high reliability. It was evident that, of the 79 patients, 35,4% have a low degree of family support, 53,2% have an unhealthy lifestyle. The proportion of participants
with a low degree of family support and unhealthy lifestyle was 22,8%, while 17,7% had a high degree of family support and a healthy lifestyle. Spearman's correlation coefficient was r=0,274 which indicated a low positive correlation. Finally, it was concluded that there is a relationship between the variables family support and lifestyles in older adults.
